Clip of the Day~Heartfelt devotion to Lee...

If you've been reading Lawful Obedience--or if you're keen on history and good movies--this may be of interest. It does require some background, though.

Here's the story as I've heard it: as they were filming the movie Gettysburg, a huge group of Confederate reenactors saw Martin Sheen--who was portraying Lee--ride their way. They rushed toward him, shouting Lee's name, surrounding Sheen, touching him, shaking his hand...

Sheen was shocked--he said afterwards that these guys didn't seem to realize that he wasn't Lee, lol. You can see an almost frightened look on his face as he nonetheless steadies his horse and does his best to shake hands with as many of the men as he can.

The short scene was unplanned, but fortunately someone had enough sense to keep the cameras rolling. It conveys something of the devotion that Lee inspired--regardless of whether the South was right to secede ;)
