Yeah, I've got a bunch of pictures today. Why? Because I've finally got the hang of screen shots!
The first pic is, naturally, of Spock and Bones:
This next one is of a contrite Kirk--he's apologizing to Bones for chewing him out without cause:
And here's Bones with Eleen (who's played by Julie Newmar--yup, Catwoman.) She's not thrilled to be pregnant, but she's starting to like the doctor's tender care:
Spock, however, doesn't appreciate just how close the good doctor is getting to Eleen. (No, really. I'm not making this up.) It seems he wants McCoy all to himself, because he's looking mighty jealous:
Hey, what do you know? McCoy's embarrassed that Spock saw him holding Eleen's hand:
Ok, now Spock and Bones are over their little tiff and cooperating once more:
And here's McCoy's famous line: "I'm a doctor, not an escalator!" You tell 'em, Bones:Can you stand this? Julie Newmar looks fabulous even when her character's in childbed:
McCoy helps Eleen give birth to a healthy child. But she's still not keen on the whole 'Mommy' business, so she gives the child to McCoy and Spock to adopt:
Ok...jeez. The episode didn't quite end that way. But it should have!
But Spock really did repeat the words "Oochy-woochy-coochy-coo," after he heard Bones saying them to the kid. Ok, Spock didn't quite say them to the baby...he questioned Kirk instead, who (with an admirably straight face) referred him to linguistics.
Oh, and Eleen named the kid Leonard James, after Bones & Kirk--much to Spock's chagrin...

This is absolutely a S/Mc episode, yes!

Absolutely! And the way McCoy reacts - priceless too! Thanks for sharing your re-do *G*
Thanks AQ!
I agree--Spock's clear jealousy and McCoy's reaction is priceless! Sometimes I'm convinced that scene is a gift from God to slash fans...

I always thought it was very cute how Spock handled the whole Oochy-woochy-coochy-coo business. All clumsy and aloof, but I'm sure Len would have taught him how to handle little Leonard James Akaar...
Liked your take on the episode very much!
Thanks Peerie!
Ohmygosh! I forgot all about the oochy-woochy-coochy-coo business! My bad--I'll go back and add it!
Thanks for the reminder,
Rose
This is one of the only times Spock uses McCoy's first name.
Yes it's in a question to both Kirk and McCoy "Leonard? James? Akaar?" But...he says it!
Oooh, good point!
Hey, do you know any other examples of Spock calling McCoy Leonard? I remember when he called the doctor 'Bones' in The Tholian Web--"Forget it, Bones"--but I can't think of another instance of him calling McCoy 'Leonard.' (Not off the top of my head...)
