Heath Ledger received an Adademy Award nomination today for best supporting actor for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. The nomination is a bittersweet triumph, coming as it does on the anniversary of his death.I hope and pray he wins. Somehow, he managed to embody chaos itself in his performance...I was scared to hell, sympathetic, morally outraged and laughing all at the same time. Christian Bale may have made me a die-hard Batman fan, but Heath Ledger caused me to look at comic books and super-hero movies in a whole new way.
This scene (with Gary Oldman and Christian Bale) is one of his best. I wish I could show it here, but you have to go to YouTube directly. But it's worth it!
